All the skis get fresh Benchetler-designed topsheets. Lightweight, wide and strong, Atomic Backland 100 is one of the most versatile skis in the Backland collection and capable of performing in the widest range of snow conditions and in any terrain. Dylan: I never felt compelled to mess with the mount point of this ski, given how cohesive it felt at its recommended line of -3 cm from true center. Granted, it never felt harsh and unforgiving in very firm snow like some much stiffer, equally light skis can, just unsupportive and uninspiring. Dura Cap Sidewall construction combined with revolutionary HRZN Tech offers more surface area in the tip and tail for better tracking through chop and crud with less tip deflection. The Bent110 takes a similar approach to the mountain as the Bent120, with slightly less width. 2021 has been a year of exceptionnal change but the mountains endure, and skiing is already adapt to reflect an altered landscape. When you find soft snow, you suck all the juice out of the Bent 110. Test Location: Mt. Slush is the prime example of that. When snow piles up on groomers and turns into soft chop, the Bent 110 likes to skip across the tops of snow piles rather than blow through them. Press the space key then arrow keys to make a selection. Actual product may differ/vary slightly from image displayed. That all changed when they overhauled that ski for the 18/19 season and it became one of the lightest 120mm-wide skis on the market. Its above-average maneuverability in soft snow continues to be an asset when the untracked snow gets cut up a little bit and you consequently need to make more adjustments and turns than you do in perfect pow. Luke: Not much to report here, other than that, for its width, the Bent 110 performs quite predictably on piste and on other firm, smooth conditions. Just how stable is it going to feel in more challenging, cut-up resort conditions? Dylan: Agreed. Butare you really looking at the Bent 110 because you care about skiing groomers? While Atomic says the 110 is for those not-so-deep pow days (which are reserved for the 120), not all of us can afford to sink our savings into TWO Bent Chetlers (or can we?). Theres enough stability here to ski fast through chop as long as you stay dynamic rather than tightening up. I only really found the limits of this skis flotation in very deep, unconsolidated mid-winter snow in the Crested Butte backcountry. Of the ~110mm-wide skis Ive used, the Bent 110 would be near the top of my list for skiing tight, pow-filled trees. At my height and weight (510, 155 lbs / 178 cm, 70 kg), I always thought the 184 cm Bent Chetler 120 was a bit short, while the 190 cm length seemed too long for how playful and light that ski was. Who doesn't? (3) The Bent 110 has a very centered mount point and an overall design that seems targeted at playful skiing, but will more directional skiers still get along with it? Blending the perfect amount of rocker with camber underfoot for maximum effective edg, The 2022 Atomic Punx 5 is the step-up to the Punx 7, with the same attitude shaped for future X-Games winners. The Bent 110 is designed with HRZN Tech Tip and Tail for a playful performance and better float through blower without adding bulk to the ski. Fresh snow and deep chop aside, slush is where I think the Bent 110 really outshines its narrower sibling, whereas the Bent 100 feels more practical in most other non-pow-day scenarios. Its loose and surfy. The Bent 110 continues that pattern. I found it easy to bend, and despite its healthy rocker, the Bent 110s tails held on to carves reasonably well. As the middle child of the newly expanded Atomic Bent family, the Bent 110s combine the freeride power of the 120s with the all mountain capability of the 100s. Nice. The skis stayed nimble without feeling like they were going to send me OTB. I think some directional skiers who are accustomed to more rearward mount points will not find the Bent 110 all that intuitive. Atomic reports that they weigh 3500 grams per pair in a 180cm size, while the 120 weighs 3600 grams per pair in the 184cm size. Doing that, the ski feels really maneuverable in doesnt get bogged down that easily in deep conditions. On the scale, the Bent 110 weighs in with similar numbers as the 120. Advanced and expert skiers who prioritize powder surf and playfulness above all else and view the mountain as a playground (airs, side hits, etc). For 2022-2023, they debut the new Bent 110, plus a new Bent 90, alongside the existing 120 and 100. Topped off with Chris Benchetler's most fluid, creative artwork to date, the Bent 110s may be the last skis you ever need. If you often find yourself slicing and dicing through tight places on your wide-ish skis, youre going to like the Bent 110. Orders placed before 1pm may ship out same day based on the location of the item in our shipping warehouse, although we recommend an expectation of 24-48 hours to process the order. Ultimately, the Bent 110 delivers freeride flavor and powder performance in a ski that can hold up in most conditions and terrain on the mountain. If you push them, youll get the tips to chatter a bit, and all that taper and rocker can feel slippy rather than planted, especially if youre a bigger or very aggressive skier. The ski felt a bit more intuitive when trying to drive it and initiate turns from the shovels, but not so much that Id all of a sudden recommend it to directional skiers used to skis with very set-back mount points. Free shipping is delivered via USPS or UPS, and takes anywhere from 2-7 business days. A Full Cap construction also makes it light and tough. Ski Pro offers free USA shipping on all orders over $99. In addition to the extra flotation, youll get more stability. This profile supports Atomics claim that the Bent 110 will ski more like a narrower 120 than a wider 100. To summarize: the Bent 110 is designed to bring the ride of the Bent Chetler 120 to a more versatile width, and its supposed to handle everything from pow-filled backcountry lines to lift-served laps and variable snow. From the piste to powder, Bent Chetler to Maverick all-mountain skis, our products are tested, validated and built to drive the sport forward. Ski like a legend. Atomic found a way to print money so you they are capitalized on the bent name and trend when I dont believe is a good trend. Like I said above, its stable enough to support aggressive skiing through mixed snow. The flex pattern of the Bent 110 is basically a story of two parts: the rockered portions and the cambered portions. Again, the ski allows you to make micro adjustments while staying on your line. Even at slow speeds in tight trees with deep snow throughout, the Bent 110 remained very maneuverable. The other thing to keep in mind is the Bent 110s weight, or more accurately, its lack of it. We Carry The Best So You Can Choose From The Best! But, as Luke mentioned, very talented skiers with a balanced stance might not struggle with this as much as someone who is used to driving the shovels of their skis through soft chop and mostly pointing it down the fall line. - Powered by, Your mountain, your adventure, your shops. Finally, if youd like to take the guesswork out of your next gear decision, you can always become a Blister Member, submit a question through the Blister Member Clubhouse page, and well work individually with you to figure out which products would be ideal for you. The rockered tips and tails of this ski are pretty soft, but the cambered portion (which is a bit more than half the length of the ski) is quite strong overall. And, these skis are plenty light to take a hybrid or tech touring binding, which would be my move. After more than a decade of iconic Bent Chetler skis, inspired and designed by Chris Benchetler, Atomic is giving the namesake collection its biggest expansion yet. (1) Given its low weight, should we mostly be thinking of the Bent 110 as a touring ski, a resort ski, and/or a ski to use for both?
